Amb. Alexander Kmentt to Receive The Simons Foundation Award

Amb. Alexander Kmentt

We are pleased to announce that The Simons Foundation Award for Distinguished Global Leadership in the Service of Peace and Disarmament has been awarded to Ambassador Alexander Kmentt, President-designate of The First Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) and Austria’s Director for Arms Control, Non-Proliferation and Disarmament.

"The Shaper" Award: Glass sculpture by Susan Point, Coast Salish Artist

The Award, created by First Nationals artist, Susan Point, is a work in glass and symbolizes The Shaper, in our definition, a person who shapes the environment, whose leadership skills involve foresight and imagination, a leader who creates the blueprint, the guidelines, who develops and travels the path to a more humane world.

Alexander Kmentt epitomizes these criteria as one of the architects of the Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear weapons Initiative, The Austrian Humanitarian Pledge and the consequent Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

The Award will be presented in person later in the year.
