This year's annual Space Security Conference at the United Nations in Geneva brought together experts from all over the world, including non-traditional actors who have an evergrowing equity in the stability and security of outer space, to discuss emerging security threats and possible options to address these issues at the multinational level.  The event was hosted by the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) and sponsored by The Simons Foundation, Secure World Foundation, Chatham House, and the governments of the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation.

See the following links for remarks given by Paul Meyer, Senior Fellow at The Simons Foundation, on "NGOs in Space Security: reasons for engagement" and "The Diplomatic Context: what prospects for progress?"
